Law against fake drugs; Posts for 6 AIIMS-like bodies:Cabinet

New Delhi, July 17 (UNI) The Cabinet today approved a proposal to move official amendments to the Drugs and Cosmetics (Amendment) Bill, 2005 to check the trade in spurious drugs.

It also gave the go-ahead for the creation of posts of Director and Medical Superintendent for the six All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) like institutions being set up under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) scheme.

Briefing reporters on the decisions taken at the weekly Cabinet meeting, Finance Minister P Chidambaram said Project Cells would be created in these institutions to expedite the scheme.

The official amendments to the Drugs Bill were approved on the recommendations of the Parliamentary Standing Committee, Mr Chidambaram said.
