Jewelry worth Rs 20 lakhs looted

Mangalore. July 17 (UNI) Four unidentified miscreants have robbed gold ornaments worth about Rs 20 lakhs after injuring a jeweler from Rajasthan in the city last night.

The Police said today that Eshwar Purval was walking with gold ornaments in a suitcase to his lodge after selling some gold at a shop near Central Market here. the culprits attacked him from the back with club and robbed jewelry and mobile phone before escaping in a waiting Car towards Hampankatta Circle.

The injured jeweler had been admitted to government Wenlock Hospital with head and chest injuries. The doctors said no danger to his life but not in a position to talk yet.

Mr Purval who arrived in the city yesterday to sell the gold ornaments from Mumbai was said to be a regular visitor to the city on his business tour of selling gold ornaments.
