Footpath vendors protest against removal of their shops
Puducherry,July, 17 (UNI) Tension prevailed at the busy Nehru street here for some time today as the footpath vendors led by Puducherry Munnetra Congress (PMC) legislators picketed the office of the superintendent of police (Traffic) .
The agitation was to protest the removal of the footpath shops by the police and municipal authorities stating that it was hindering traffic and demanding that they be allowed to put up the shops again.
Legislators, Lakshminarayanan and Anand held talks with the superintendent of police (traffic),following which it was agreed that the vendors can put up their shops on the footpath between 9 PM and 8 AM.After this they called off their stir.
