Controversial Social Science book not to be withdrawn: Education Min
Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 17 (UNI) Kerala Education Minister M A Baby today reiterated that the State Government would not withdraw the controversial Social Science book of seventh class or any of its lessons.
Talking to reporters after an emergency meeting of the Curriculum Committee, he said the Committee, however, had decided to make certain corrections in the controversial lessons.
The Expert Committee, appointed by the Government to look into the matter, had in its interim report suggested certain corrections in the book, which was discussed by the Curriculum Committee.
Though two members had opposed the suggestions, the Committee had decided to make certain changes in the report, Mr Baby said.
Claiming that there was nothing against religion in the lesson, he said the controversial captions in the lessons and certain portions would be changed.
The English version of the book would be distributed again after revising it, he added.
It may be recalled that the Congress-led Opposition had been raising a banner of revolt against the book, demanding its withdrawal.
