MP: All India Bank strike on August 20

Bhopal, Jul 17: All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) has called for a nation-wide bank strike on August 20 to press various demands of the banking sector.

AIBEA in association with All India Bank Officers Association (AIBOA) had launched a country wide phased agitation which would end tomorrow as ''Sarvajanik Kshetra Bank Bachao Divas''.

Madhya Pradesh Bank Employees' Association (MPBEA) General Secretary V K Sharma told reporters here today that the prominent demands include no privatisation of banks, no permission to open Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the banking sector, delicensing on expansion of branches and opening of more branches in rural areas, besides stringent action against willful defaulters, About defaulters in the corporate sector in the state, Mr Sharma said there were 68 companies, whose arrears had touched Rs 353.26 crores till September last year, but no action was initiated against them.
