Airtel announces strategic tie-up with SKS Microfinance
Hyderabad, July 17 (UNI) Bharti Airtel Limited today announced its strategic tie-up with SKS Microfinance, India's largest and a fastest growing microfinance company in the world, to make mobile telephony available and affordable for rural consumers.
After the Airtel's ambitious campaign 'Grameena Mobile Kranthi,' this latest initiative was aimed to enable rural consumers to enjoy the benefits of a robust network, seamless connectivity and innovative services, a release said here.
Mr Deepak Mehrotra, Executive Director, Bharti Airtel Limited (South), said contribution of the rural people to the country's GDP was 54 per cent. For the double digit GDP growth, rural telecom revolution would play a big role in the country's economy, he added.
''We are happy to partner with SKS Microfinance and I am sure that their trusted relationship and extensive reach across many villages will help Airtel to reach millions of rural customers,'' he added.
