Abandoned bag causes flutter in Mangalore airport

Mangalore, July 17 (UNI) A bag left behind by a Dubai-bound student, unable to pay for his excess baggage, created a flutter for some time in the Mangalore International airport here.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officials jumped into action yesterday and took safety measures, including stacking sand bags and preventing the public from going near the bag.

The situation returned to normalcy when it was found that the bag belonged to a student.

A Goan student studying in Manipal, bound for Dubai, had left his bag containing a guitar and books and weighing about 25 kg, at the flag pole in the airport as he did not have enough money to pay for the excess baggage, according to airport sources.

As the student did not have a return ticket, the immigration officials objected to his visit though he was going on a visiting visa and asked him to return after picking up his bag himself.
