Two suspected militants, one migrant worker shot dead in Manipur

Imphal, Jul 16 (UNI) Two suspected militants were shot dead by troops and a migrant worker was killed by unidentified gunmen in separate incidents.

Police said here today that a migrant worker was shot dead by unidentified gunmen near his house at Thangmeiband last night.

The matter was being investigated, police added.

In another incident, Imphal West district police commandos and troops of 12 Maratha Light Infantry shot dead two suspected militants at Samurou Maning Leikai.

The combined forces started an operation last night around 1900 hours during which they came across some suspected militants and a brief encounter ensued in which the duo was killed, police said.

Police also recovered one 9 mm pistol with three live cartridges and a .36 highly explosive hand grenade, police added.
