Sony launches Bravia LCD range
New Delhi, Jul 16: Aiming at 30 per cent share of the LCD market in the country, Sony India today launched a new range of Bravia LCD televisions with an investment of Rs 60 crore.
''The Indian market is growing faster than anywhere else in the world and we aim to capture the 30 per cent market share in the current year,'' Sony India Managing Director Masaru Tamagawa told reporters here. The new Bravia W,V and S series, in the range of 20-52 inches, is priced from Rs 24,990-Rs 2,99,900 and the LCD sets will be imported from the company's production facility in Malaysia and China.
The company had a market share of 25 per cent in the country during last fiscal. At present, the Indian market is estimated to be about one million units and the company plans to be the leader in the LCD segment, Mr Tamagawa said.
The company, which had launched five models of its LCD range last year, will add another five models to its kitty, taking the total to 10 products this year.
