Punjab govt to levy lumpsum tax on 'dhabas'
Chandigarh, Jul 16 (UNI) The Punjab Cabinet today decided to levy lumpsum tax on 'Dhaba' owners on the basis of their turnover.
The tax rate would be Rs 10,000 in case the 'dhaba' annual turnover was Rs five lakh and above but less than Rs 15 lakh.
The tax would be Rs 22,500 in case the turnover was Rs 15 lakh and above but less than Rs 30 lakh.
This tax would be Rs 40,000 in case if the annual turnover was more Rs 30 lakh and above but less than Rs 50 lakh. The limpsum tax would be Rs 75,000 in case if the turn over was Rs 50 lakh and above but less than Rs one core.
The tax would be Rs 1,25000 in case the turn ver was Rs 1 crore and above but less than Rs 1.5 crore and it would be Rs 1,75000 in case the turnover was Rs 1.5 crore and above but less than Rs two crore.
The Cabinet met here under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.
The Cabinet also gave approval for amending Section 3 and 3A of Punjab Entertainment Tax (Cinematograph Shows) Act, 1954 through a promulgation of an Ordinance for exemption in entertainment tax to the cinema owners in Punjab as extended to multiplexes.
