One militant, one policeman killed in Sopore encounter
Srinagar, July 16 : One militant and one policeman were killed in an encounter that began in Warpora village in Sopore near here early on Wednesday morning.
Police sources said that two militants, who were holed up in a house, were engaged in a gunbattle with the Srinagar Police, the Sopore Police, the 20 Rashtriya Rifles, the 179 and 177 Battalions of the Central Reserve Police Force sinceTuesday night.
Police said at least ten others were wounded in the encounter, which is taking place in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla District.
They included security force personnel, Army soldiers and three policemen. A Lieutenant Colonel was also injured in the firing.
