'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na' bowls overseas audiences

New Delhi, Jul 16 (UNI) After wowing the audiences in India, the endearing and "true-to-life" portrayal of life of youth, coupled with powerful performances by the cast in the Aamir Khan-produced 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na', have bowled over audiences in the overseas markets, fetching for the film excellent collections in its opening week.

UTV sources, who have distributed the film in the overseas markets, which marks the acting debut of Aamir Khan's nephew Imran Khan, said the film was a hit in the various overseas territories including the United Kingdom, where it grossed 156,670 US dollars in the first ten days of its release.

The film was a big hit in the Gulf too where it earned 464,435 US dollars in the first ten days. In Australia, its collections in the first ten days were 71, 809 US dollars. Overall, it had earned 1.3 million US dollars from various overseas markets (approximately Rs 5 crore) in the first ten days, UTV sources said.

'Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Na' was already a big hit in India where it had opened to near 100 per cent collection in several areas.

Infact, according to statistics obtained from the IBOS network, the film had grossed over Rs 28 crore from the domestic box-office in its opening week, which make it a superhit.

Infact, trade sources say the opening garnered by 'Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Naa' is the biggest for any Bollywood film this year.

This was also evident from the fact that the Yash Raj production 'Thoda Pyar Thoda magic' had grossed Rs 25 crore in its first two weeks, a figure which is lower than the opening week's collections for 'Jaane Tu Yaa Jaane Na'.

Also, the collections of the Imran Khan Genelia D'Souza starrer were almost double the collection of the much-hyped 'Love Story 2050' which was Rs 14 crore, released simultaneously with the it.
