Hooda offers help to Panjab University

Chandigarh, Jul 16 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today assured all help of the state government to the Panjab University in furthering the cause of education.

The statement comes in the wake of the controversy over the reported reservations of the Punjab government to the proposal for the Central university status for the Panjab University.

''The Panjab University is located in Chandigarh, the capital of both Punjab and Haryana, and the students of Haryana are also being benefitted from this University,'' the Chief Minister was speaking after laying the foundation of a new building of University Institute of Applied Management Sciences in South campus of the University here today.

The Chief Minister said the Haryana government would be happy with the development of this university. He also appreciated the decision of the Panjab University to reserve seats for single girl child in a family and students belonging to Scheduled Castes in its courses.

He also complemented Panjab University Vice Chancellor R C Sobti and members of the faculty on the occasion of the diamond jubilee celebrations of the university.
