Decision on textbook after final report: Minister
Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 16: Stating that the Expert Committee that looked into the class seven social science textbook has not recommended its withdrawal, Kerala Education Minister M A Baby today said the Curriculum Committee will look into the Committee's interim report.
''The Expert Committee, headed by famous historian K N Panicker, has only given an interim report, yesterday. A decision regarding the textbook will be taken by the curriculum committee only after the final report is submitted,'' he told the Assembly.
He asked the Opposition parties to drop its unanimous opposition on the textbook issue.
Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy asked the Government to withdraw the textbook in the wake of the Expert Committee's interim report seeking some changes and additions in the textbook. ''There are widespread protests against the textbook from all corners. So, the Government should withdraw it,'' he said.
