99 per cent Credit Plan complete: Chokkalingam

Nashik, July 16 (UNI) Out of the total Rs 2,623.79 cr Credit Plan for the year 2007-08 for the district, credit supply of Rs 2586.66 cr (99 per cent) has been completed till March 2008.

Last year, the credit plan was completed 103 per cent. This year, the agriculture loan waiver scheme had its effect on the implementation of the credit plan, District Collector S Chokkalingam said in a meeting of the district co-ordination committee. The meeting took stock of the works done in the financial year 2007-08.

In the district, 1,37,362 farmers with less than five acres of farming land have been given benefit of Rs 547,98,98,000 total loan waiver scheme. 54,333 farmers with more than five acres of farming land, have been given the benefit of Rs 158,54,12,000 in the 25 per cent loan waiver scheme. Overall 1,91,695 farmers have been given Rs 707,53,10,000 benefit in this scheme.

Rs 1,001.46 cr out of the Rs 1,126.07 cr planned for crop loan have been distributed till March 2008. Out of the total Rs 1,640.11 cr provision for agriculture, credit supply of Rs 1,491.48 cr has been completed. Out of the total Rs 2,144.75 cr provision for Priority Sector, Rs 1,986.58 cr (93 per cent) credit supply has been completed.

Out of the total Rs 479.04 cr provision for the Non-Priority Sector, Rs 600.08 cr (125 per cent) have been supplied. In this way, out of the total provision of Rs 2623.79 cr of the District Credit Plan, Rs 2,586.66 cr (99 per cent) have been supplied till March 2008.

On the occasion, the Collector suggested the banks of their more able and sensitive participation in agriculture credit supply. He also advised the banks to make special efforts to create awareness among farmers for use of Kisan Credit Card. There are 3,23,950 Kisan Credit Card holder farmers in the district.
