Rahul invites youth to bring change in politics
Amethi, Jul 15: Congress General Secretary and party's young icon Rahul Gandhi on Monday July 14, appealed to the youth to come forward and bring a change in the current structure of politics in Uttar Pradesh.
''The time has come, when youth should make valuable contributions in politics and get connected with the Congress,'' Mr Gandhi said during the first day of his visit to parliamentary constituency here. Laying full emphasis on preparedness for the forthcoming Lok Sabha election, the local MP said the people should now bring Congress to power in Uttar Pradesh. Mr Gandhi welcomed the people of Haliyapur village in Amethi and assured them of development like other villages.
Claiming a good progress in basic facilities viz education, infrastructure and electricity during the last four years in Amethi, the Congress leader said '' same changes would be soon spotted in the villages, which have been recently included in Amethi.'' The Haliypur village was excluded from Sultanpur parliamentary constituency and added to Mr Gandhi's constituency.
Earlier in the day, Mr Gandhi interacted with gram panchayat chairpersons at a training camp in Jagdishpur and asked them to sincerely engage themselves in preparations for the approaching election.
The officials were being provided training at the camp for cross verification of the voter's list. ''No voter should be missed,'' the Congress leader quipped.
Mr Gandhi also passed directions that he should be personnaly informed about the major problems, if any.
The Congress leader inquired about the health of some ailing gram panchayat chairmen and Congress workers in Shuklabazaar.
Later in the day, he held a road show and greeted people in these new villages.
The MP laid foundation stone of three roads under Prime Minister road scheme at Jaibganj village and a hall at an Inter College in Nevada on Tuesday July 15.
As per the schedule, Mr Gandhi would participate on Wednesday on July 16, in Building material and technology promotion council's programme in a town here and would later leave for Salon's seminar after inaugurating Bar Association Building at Gairganj.
On July 16, he will take part in Building vision programme of Rajeev Gandhi women development association at Jayas.
