Police recover Army mortars from Silliguri

Silliguri, Jul 15 (UNI) Police today recovered three mortars abandoned several years ago by the Army from the Eastern bypass under Bhakti Nagar police station area here on the outskirts of the district.

North Bengal IGP K L Tamta said the mortars were recovered from the dumping ground on the bypass.

''A bomb disposal squad from the CID was called to verify the nature of the mortar which was declared ineffective by the squad,'' he added.

The Army was also informed about the recovery, he informed.
