Nepal's first presidential election on July 19
Kathmandu, Jul 15 (UNI) The recently turned republic of Nepal will elect its first President on July 19.
The meeting of the Constituent Assembly's Standing Committee had decided this after the country's major political parties failed to reach a consensus on the presidential candidate.
The nominations for the post of the president will be held on July 17, and the election would be held at 11 am on July 19.
Earlier, the meeting between CPN Maoist and CPN UML today morning ended inconclusively following a conflict over the presidential candidate. The Maoists rejected UML's candidate Madhav Kumar Nepal for the post of President in the meeting.
Nepal was declared Republic on May 28.
