Lady army officer alleges sexual harassment

New Delhi, Jul 15: Yet another case of sexual harassment is reported from Indian Army.

Captain Poonam Kaur of ASC Batallion, who is posted at Kalka Military Station in Panchkula, has accused some of the senior officers at the station of harassing her and confining her into a quarter. Captain Kaur said that these officials had been trying to take undue advantage of her for a long time, but she had sorted out the problem at her own level so far. However, she has been forced to come out in the open after things started going out of control of late. The three officials are of the rank of Colonel, Lieutenant Colonel and Major.

Kaur also accused the officials of trying to link her with other officials by sending her on duties in different stations when she didn"t respond to their advances.

Kaur has also accused the officials of throwing out her family from her Army quarter.

In September last year, the General Officer Commanding the crucial 3 Infantry Division in Leh, Major General A K Lal, has been accused by a fellow woman officer Captain Neha Rawat of sexual harassment.
