HC again refuses to give stay on admission process
Mumbai, Jul 15 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today again refused to give a stay on the ongoing admission process in the city colleges over the percentile issue.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Swatanter Kumar and Justice A P Deshpande, while refusing to give a stay in its order, directed the Maharashtra goveerment to file its say on July 17, explaining the details of the issue.
The bench gave direction in response to a petition filed by Xavier Lewis, a parent, challenging the state government's formula of calculating the percentile of students of different boards like CBSE, ICSE and SSC.
Lewis said, in his petition, that the government had introduced this formula without thinking about the implications of the same, and has sougtht direction to ask the state government to stop admission on this basis.
