Caution on fake websites selling Olympics tickets: CoP
Bangalore, Jul 15 (UNI) Conmen on the web are on the prowl to cash in on the Olympic hype with the Beijing event nearing.
Fake websites have surfaced overnight offering tickets for the Olympics against online payment.
Bangalore Police Commissioner Shankar Bidri today cautioned the people about fake websites which had been offering tickets for Beijing Olympics.
Speaking to reporters here,he said such websites were likely to be part of an international nexus and sports enthusiasts, wanting to go to China to witness Olympics, should make sure they contacted authentic travel agents and ticket sellers, he said.
He appealed to the people to immediately inform the police once they come across any such websites.
The official's comments comes in the wake of a reported incident of a person from the city being duped to the tune of Rs 2.50 lakh by a fake website to which he paid through his credit card to buy tickets for the Olympics.
