Bihar: 20 killed as jeep falls into canal

Patna, Jul 15: At least 20 people, including ten women and nine children, were killed when a jeep fell into a canal near Magopur village under Alamaganj police station area here today.

Police said the driver of the jeep could not locate the road as it was waterlogged due to continuous heavy downpour and the vehicle fell into the canal. The ill-fated jeep was carrying a marriage party which was returning from Magopur village. The driver of the jeep fled after the accident, police said, adding that the bodies had been fished out and sent for post-mortem at the Nalanda Medical College and Hospital.
