Torrents bring down mercury level in Kolkata

Kolkata, Jul 14 (UNI) The mercury level nosedived further today following a heavy downpour lashing the city last night.

The pleasant weather brought the much sought after relief to the people from the sultry weather that the city dwellers had been experiencing for past several days.

Local Met office recorded 98.9 mm rainfall during the past 24 hours.

Lanes in several areas were waterlogged and life was disrupted in low lying areas.

Met officials recorded the day's maximum temperature at 31.2 degree Celcius, while the minimum was pegged at 24.5 degree.

Moreover, Met officials predicted generally cloudy sky with the possibility of spells of rain or thundershowers during next 24 hours.
