SpEC opens office at Kochi; eyeing Bangalore for expansion

Kochi, Jul 14 (UNI) United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based Specialised Engineering Consultants (SpEC) today announced the opening of its second office in India here to provide holistic electrical and mechanical engineering services for mega projects in the country.

Addressing a press conference here, company partners Syed Sabzada and Syraj Hamza said the firm, comprising a team of professionals in the electrical and mechanical engineering (MEP) field had hands-on experience in more than 4,000 projects worldwide, complying to the latest international regulations.

With major projects such as Smart City and Medical City coming up in Kochi and other places in India, there was a need for specialised consultancy in the field of MEP design and supervision.

The company, which had opened its first office at Kozhikode recently, had already bagged the MEP consultancies for the Le Meridien Hotel expansion in Kochi and the 40-storeyed Choice residential apartments at Tripunithura near here, reportedly the tallest residential building in south India. Plans were afoot to open another office at Bangalore in the near future, Mr Sabzada said.

The MEP design capability of SpEC, includes heating, ventilation and air conditioning, plumbing, public health, fire detection and protection, life safety, electrical distribution, back-up power generation, lighting, access control and security systems, entertainment systems and specialised systems for hotels and hospitals.

Involved in the MEP work for UAE projects such as the Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City, Lulu Hypermarket, Abu Dhabi Marina Mall, Mariott Hotel, SpEC's upcoming projects, included an international rugby stadium and aircraft hangar projects for Airbus A380.

The total value of projects designed and implemented by SpEC exceeds USD 2.5 billion, Mr Hamza said.

Head of the company's Kerala operations Ashar Panakkat said the company had also bagged contracts for some apartment buildings in Kozhikode, Thrissur and Thalaserry.
