Pondy celebrates French Republic Day
Puducherry, Jul 14: The 219th Republic Day of France was celebrated with gaiety and fanfare by over 10,000 French citizens in this union territory today.
Consul General of France in Puducherry, Ms Jollie Rayat, Puducherry Administration Secretary Balakrishnan (representing the Lt Governor), representatives of the French Lower House from Puducherry and retired French defence personnel were among those who placed wreaths at the ''Munument Aux Morts'' (Monument for the unknown soldier) on the Goubert Avenue here on the occasion.
French national flags were also hoisted atop all the French buildings here.
