Panasonic launches alkaline batteries
Mumbai, July 14 : Panasonic Battery India, a manufacturing and sales company of Japan-based Matsushita Batteries, today launched a range of long-lasting alkaline batteries for the Indian markets.
Panasonic Battery India MD S K Khurana told reporters today, ''The demand for alkaline batteries in India is growing. We understand the potential of alkaline batteries and aim to make our presence felt in a big way in this segment.'' Mr Khurana said currently the company is launching a range of four models and will develop further product line-up.
''The total current demand for alkaline batteries is 22 million pieces which is only about one per cent of the total dry batteries demand. The demand is expected to reach 558 million pieces by 2017,'' Mr Khurana said.
