New Kashmir divisional commissioner assumes charge

Srinagar, Jul 14 (UNI) Mr Masaud Samoon today assumed the charge of Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, an official spokesman said.

Mr Samoon, a 1993 batch IAS officer, was among 42 senior IAS and KAS officers transferred during a major reshuffle in the administration after imposition of Governor's rule in the state following resignation by Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and his cabinet colleagues on July 7 without facing a vote of confidence in the state assembly.

A number of senior police officers were also transferred.
