Muslim concern of Advani only a political gimmick : RJD

Patna, Jul 14 (UNI) The RJD today dubbed the concern of senior BJP leader L K Advani for Muslim community a ''political gimmick'', alleging that he had disturbed the communal harmony in the country by undertaking a ''Rath yatra'' in the late eighties.

National spokesman of the party Shyam Rajak told newspersons here that Mr Advani had ''hurt'' the sentiments of the Muslim community by ''instigating'' his party workers to demolish the Babri Masjid in 1992.

The Godhra carnage in Gujarat claiming hundreds of lives of the Muslims was a blot on the BJP and Mr Advani did nothing to prevent Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi from launching ''canards'' against the minorities while occupying the Constitutional post, he added.

'' Pseudo-secularism of Mr Advani for Muslims could be gauged from the fact that he as Union Home Minister in the Vajpayee Government had ordered to stop the construction of hostel for minorities in each district of Bihar during the RJD regime in the state, '' Mr Rajak stated.
