Modak Sagar lake nears overflow mark
Mumbai, July 14 (UNI) Modak Sagar is nearing its overflow mark of 163.15 THD (tendring hundred) with today's level being recorded at 162.34 THD, after increasing by 0.23 THD with 2 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours.
According to civic officials, the water levels of the other five lakes supplying water to the metropolis has increased marginally in the last 24 hours.
Tansa received 15 mm rainfall leading to an increase of 0.08 THD taking the water level to 123.51 THD, Vihar received 0 mm rainfall and Tulsi received 8 mm rainfall leading to an increase of 0.02 THD in the water level and taking the same to 137.37 THD.
Similarly, Upper Vaitarna received 2 mm rainfall leading to an increase of 0.09 MSL (middle sea level) taking the level to 597.66 MSL, while Bhatsa received 4 mm rainfall, leading to an increase of 0.70 MSL and taking the water level to 110.20 MSL.
It may be noted that Mumbai is reeling under a 15 per cent water cut that will be cancelled once the lakes reach the overflow mark.
