Man sentenced to life for abduction and murder
Rourkela, Jul 14 (UNI) Additional Sessions Judge Rourkela Sarat Chandra Mohapatra today convicted one Ayub Khan alias Yunus khan to life on charges of attempting to kidnap gold merchant Rajesh Sahu and killing his driver Samir Lohar inJuly 2005.
The court also convicted Khan to ten years RI under section 307 of IPC for attempt to murder and a fine of Rs 5,000 and in default with one year RI.
Ayub Khan, as associate of Shahabuddin, was involved in 16 other cases in Bihar, Jharkhand and Orissa. While Ayub Khan was convicted, five others were acquitted due to lack of evidence.
As per the prosecution, Ayub Khan and his associates were trying to Kidnap Rajesh when his driver Samir came to his rescue but was killed due to bullet injury.
The accused also fired at Rajesh, who received five bullet injuries. When the local people came to his rescue, the culprits fled from the scene.
Ayub and his associates were arrested on August 24,2005 from a hotel near the railway station here.
