Heroin, cocaine available for less than two pounds in the UK

London, July 14 : Deadly drugs like heroin and crack cocaine are being peddled for less than two pounds or just a little more.

According to a News of The World report, one hit of heroin costs as little as two pounds, which is 70 pence less than a pint in a pub. A line of coke costs 2.50 pounds.

Prices have plummeted because vast quantities of drugs are now flowing into Britain.

Don Serratt, chief executive of the Life Works drug and alcohol treatment centre in London, warned: "Usage of cocaine, crack and heroin is going through the roof because it is so cheap.

"The cheaper it is, the less people have to beg, borrow or steal to get hold of it, " he added.

Official Home Office figures show the price of drugs has halved in the last decade.

One spliff of cannabis costs 66 pence, a crack of cocaine is two pounds and an Ecstasy tablet is a pound.

Until recently, cocaine used to sell for 50 pounds a gram in most towns and cities.
