'Hellboy II' tops weekend box office

Washington, July 14 : 'Hellboy II: The Golden Army' topped the weekend box office with an earning of 35.9 million dollars.

Slipping to the second spot on the top ten highest grossing movies list was Will Smith's superhero flick 'Hancock'.

The movie took in 33 million dollars over the weekend despite not so positive reviews, reports E! Online.

According to estimates by Exhibitor Relations, the third highest grossing movie over the weekend, with an opening of 20.6 million dollars, was the movie adaptation of classic Jules Verne adventure 'Journey to the Centre of the Earth' starring Brendan Fraser.

Computer animated adventure comedy science fiction film 'Wall-E' was the fourth highest grosser, earning 18.5 million dollars.

The top five was rounded off by Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman starrer 'Wanted' which took in 11.6 million dollars.

The list for the top ten highest grossing movies over the weekend, as per Exhibitor Relations is:
