GM inks pact with Guj govt for industrial training

New Delhi, Jul 14 (UNI) General Motors India (GMI) today said it has signed an agreement with the government of Gujarat for training students of the Tarsali Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Vadodara for a public-private partnership effort.

''According to the MoU, GMI will develop and provide technical courses on automotive technology through Tarsali ITI. The courses will leverage GM's global resources and take advantage of expertise at GM's manufacturing facility in Halol, Gujarat, and the GM Technical Centre in Bangalore,'' a company statement said.

GMI will also contribute to upgrading the existing infrastructure at the institute and assist in providing other course-related facilities, it added.

''The automotive industry is one of the key drivers of Gujarat's economy,'' GMI President and Managing Director Karl Slym said adding that the company will also sponsor trainees as apprentices in the organisation.
