Disappointed husband immolates himself

Puducherry, Jul 14 (UNI) A-34-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by setting himsef on fire following his wife's refusal to live with him.

According to police, Jyothi, wife of Jambulingam, left him a few days back because of his alcoholism and went to her father's house at Kuruvinatham, near here.

Last evening, Jambulingam went to Kuruvinatham and asked Jyothi to return. However, she was reluctant.

Following this,Jambulingam showed a can of kerosene and threatened self-immolation if she refused to go with him.

However, Jyothi stuck to her decision and Jambulingam poured kerosene and set himself ablaze. Unable to bear the pain, he ran into the house which got gutted in the process.

Jambulingam was admitted to the government general hospital in a criticial condition last night and died this morning.
