Commission submits report on telephone tapping to CM
Chennai, July 14 (UNI) The one-man commission headed by retired Madras High Court Judge P Shanmugham today submitted its final report to the Tamil Nadu Government on tapping telephonic conversation between two senior officials in May last.
Mr Justice Shanmugham submitted the report to Chief Minister M Karunanidhi at the State Secretariat here.
He had already submitted an interim report to the government in this regard, an official release said.
Mr Karunanidhi had announced in the State Assembly on April 15 that a judicial probe would be ordered into the tapping of the telephonic conversation between Chief Secretary L K Tripathy and the then DVAC Director S K Upadhyay, which was published in a section of the press.
The next day, he appointed Mr Shanmugam as the one-man commission. The terms of references included how the tapping took place and how it was leaked to the media.
