Woman commits suicide, another makes suicide attempt

Baramulla, Jul 13 (UNI) A woman committed suicide while another made an attempt to end her life in the Kashmir valley overnight, official sources said today.

They said a woman, Shahzada consumed some poisonous substance in Kuligam at Lolab in Kupwara district.

She was admitted to hospital where she died.

Another woman Fahmeeda, also consumed some poisonous substance in her Sogam house. She was admitted to hospital in critical condition.

It was not immediately known why they took the extreme step.

Despite a Fatwa by Muslim Ulemas against suicide, the trend among the people, mostly women, to end their lives has increased.
