Tiruchirapalli, July 13 (UNI) Public sector Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) here is undertaking an expansion programme with an outlay of Rs 1,100 crore, according to BHEL Executive Director R N Mishra.
Presenting a Power-point presentation on the company's ongoing expansion works to Union Minister of State for Power Jairam Ramesh here today, he said under the expansion programme, 16 new manufacturing bases were being erected.
The civil works for the programme was much ahead of schedule and 1,600 people were recruited in the last two and half years. Another 1,400 would be recruited in due course. The expansion works were expected to be completed by March, he said.
Mr Ramesh congratulated Mr Mishra and his team for getting the order for supplying the first 800 MW super critical boiler to the Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation (APGEN) for its power plant at Krishnapatnam and two units of 660 MW super criticial boilers for the NTPC's Bark stage two power plant in Bihar amidst stiff global competition.
The BHEL Tiruchirapalli was contributing 25 per cent of the entire BHEL corporate's turnover and 10 per cent of the total manpower, the minister said.
