Nationwide strike on Aug 20: AITUC
Bhopal, July 13 (UNI) A state-level convention of various labour unions was today organised for preparations of nationwide strike on August 20 in view of their six-point demand including cancellation of the Indo-US nuclear deal.
All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) Secretary Satyanaryan Thakur alleged that the Centre has not framed a legislation for farm labourers and unorganised sector labourers despite clear provision in this regard in the common minimum programme, accoridng to a press release issued here today.
He alleged that the sovereignty of the country had been put at stake by signing the nuke deal.
Other demands included controlling inflation and framing legislation for farm labourers and unorganised sector labourers.
More than 300 representatives took part in the convention organised by various labour unions including the AITUC, the CITU and the HMS, the press release added.
