TDP polit bureau meets to discuss trust vote
Hyderabad, Jul 12 (UNI) The Polit Bureau of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today met at Sattupalli in Khammam district to decide on the strategy to be adopted for the motion of confidence of the Manmohan Singh Government on July 22.
Coinciding with the ''Meekosam Yatra'' of party President N Chandrababu Naidu, the politbureau, the highest policy-making body of the TDP with five Lok Sabha members had threadbare discussion on the political situation arising out of the withdrawal of support, first by the Bahujan Samaj Party and later by the Left parties to the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance Government at the Centre.
Mr Naidu would formally announce the party's decision at the party's state executive committee meeting tomorrow.
He would shortly leave for New Delhi to keep the United National Progressive Alliance intact.
The TDP, a constituent of the UNPA together with other UNPA parties comprising the Asom Gana Parishad and Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM), have altogether eight MPs in the Lok Sabha.
The party had entrusted TDP parliamentary party leader K Yerran Naidu with the task of coordinating with Left leaders Prakash Karat and A B Bardhan to mobilise support of like-minded parties, including Janata Dal (Secular) and the Rashtriya Lok Dal to vote against the trust vote.
The politbureau decided to appoint a three-member committee under former minister Muthyam Reddy to intensify stirs in support of farmers.
