Normalcy returns to trouble hit areas in Bangalore

Bangalore, Jul 12: Normalcy was returned to the J C Nagar and Hebbal areas in the city which witnessed violent protest against the alleged descreation of places of worship belonging to minority community on Friday, July 11.

Police had to resort burst teargas shells and resorted lathi-charge to quell the violent mob indulged in stone pelting in protest against the incident. Several policemen including Deputy Commissioner of Police Altaf Hussain and several lensmen were also injured in the stone pelting incidnet.The two areas had been under ban orders under Section 144 of Cr PC since yesterday and this will be in effect till tomorrow midnight.

The situation was peaceful on Saturday with traffic on the busy Bellary Road (NH seven) and Jayamahal Road was restored to normalcy. Tight security was provided in the troubled areas with KSRP and CRPF platoons stationed at different points.

However, most of the shops were still closed in the areas that witnessed violent incidents yesterday.
