Girl run over by train at Ernakulam Stn

Kochi, Jul 12 (UNI) In a tragic accident, a young girl was run over by a train at the Ernakulam station this evening, police said.

The girl identified as Lincy (23), working in an infotech company here, was reportedly going back home for the weekend. She had got into the Ernakulam-Quilon Passenger at around 1800 hrs. But, for some reason, she tried to get off the train as it was moving out of the station, railway officials said..

She fell onto the tracks and was run over by the train which had gathered speed by then.

She was taken to the Ernakulam General Hospital, where she was declared brought dead.

Irate co-passengers protested at the station, disrupting traffic on the Ernakulam-Kottayam line for some time.
