Drinking Water scheme in TN district from Sept 2009

Perambalur, Jul 12 (UNI) The ongoing Rs 61.11 crore Coleroon Combined Drinking Water Scheme, which would supply water for 306 habitations in Perambalur, Veppanthattai and Alathur panchayat unions in this district of Tamil Nadu would be completed by September 2009, according to Collector Anil Meshram .

In a press release here today, he said the scheme envisaged supply of about 104.99 million litres a day (MLD) to a population of about 3.09 lakh in the ultimate stage by 2039. An additional 50 MLD would be supplied for the Industries, he added.

Mr Meshram said the scheme would have its source in the Coleroon river bed at Sengaraiyur in Tiruchirapalli district . About 40 new ground level and 18 overhead water tanks would be built, he added.

The Collector said the State Government had approved sanction of Rs 168 lakh for a year towards maintenance of the scheme.
