AP mulling moving tribunal afresh
Hyderabad, July 12 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Irrigation Minister P Lakshmaiah today said that that the Supreme Court while dismissing a petition filed against construction of a mini-hydel project upstream of the Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme(RDS) had not indicted the state government.
In-fact, the Apex court had taken note of the arguments put forth by the state government and suggested that the case be taken up before the tribunal, which was the right forum to decide on the matter, he told reporters here.
The state government was considering moving the Krishna Waters disputes Tribunal afresh for relief, he added.
Stating that the state government was fully committed to protect the interest of farmers, he said it would take all steps to ensure that the upper riparian state of Karnataka did not take up the mini-hydel project as it would result in reduction of flow into the RDS.
