AITC not in favour of premature fall of Govt : Mamata
Kolkata, Jul 12 (UNI) Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee today stated that she was not in favour of the premature fall of UPA government at the Centre.
Talking to newspersons here, Ms Banerjee said, ''I don't want an elected government to fall prematurely, because it would create an unstable situation in the country.'' She alleged that there was an understanding between the Congress and the Left and the way Congress president Sonia Gandhi yesterday congratulated the Left for extending support to the UPA Government in the past four years bore an ample testimony to this fact.
''We could compromise with the Congress in the no-confidence motion but the Congress should also put no hindrance in our fight against the Left in the state,'' she iterated.
To a query, she wondered why CPI(M) MP and Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee had not resigned even after the Left's withdrawal of support to the Centre.
