Humid weather prevails in Northwest region

Chandigarh, Jul 11 (UNI) Hot and humid weather conditions prevailed in the plains with rains mainly restricting to isolated areas in Himachal Pradesh and Haryana since last night.

However, rains eluded Punjab with no report of rainfall activity received from anywhere from the state.

Light to moderate rain lashed parts of Haryana with Kalka, near here, recording 4.0 mm downpour till this morning. Morni and Raipur Rani areas also experienced rainfall.

Light to moderate rain also pounded isolated areas of Himachal Pradesh, dipping the temperatures. All rivers and rivulets in the state were swollen following excessive rains in their catchment areas in the past few days.

Moderate rain lashed Nahan, headquarters of Sirmour district, recording 21.0 mm till this morning. Dharamsala, headquarters of Kangra district, registered 6.4 mm and Sundernagar in Mandi district measured 2.8 mm rain overnight. The capital town of Shimla reported trace rainfall.

Hot and sultry weather conditions prevailed in Chandigarh and its adjoining areas. The city recorded trace rainfall overnight.

The Met Office predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers at few places in Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh during the next 24 hours.
