Capt Kanwaljeet administers oath to newly elected panches

Jalandhar, Jul 11 (UNI) Punjab Cooperatives Minister Capt Kanwaljeet Singh today administered oath to newly elected panches from the district at a function organised at Dana Mandi at Kartarpur.

After administering oath of office and secrecy to 5400 panches from 887 panchayats, including 1800 women panches, Capt Singh said that the process for electing sarpanches had already been started along with the appointment of election officers for electing sarpanches.

While addressing the panches, the Minister said that panchayats were the backbone of the Democracy, so they should work for the development of the country by rising above the party politics.

On this occasion, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sarwan Singh Phillaur and Adampur MLA Sarabjit Singh Makkar also addressed the newly elected panches UNI DP PS BK1809
