The activists, led by party city president Vijay Sane, held demonstrations in Panchavati, Ravivar Karanja and Garware Paint factory areas of the city.

During an agitation at Ravivar Karanja, one of the party activists, Dhananjay Buchade, was injured when the police tried to disperse the protestors. He was admitted to the civil hospital here, where his condition is stated to be stable.

Following the incident, the BJP activists decided to launch an indefinite hunger strike agitation against the police action.
