Scribe attacked in Sangli, seriously injured
Sangli, Maharashtra, Jul 10 (UNI) A newspaper reporter was today seriously injured after some persons allegedly attacked him at Vaiphale village in Tasgon tehsil of the district.
The reporter, identified as Amol Vilasrao Patil, was working for daily 'Pudhari' of Kolhapur, police said.
The attack was the fallout of a reported news item about the construction of primary health centre on a disputed land. The publication of the report angered a group led by local Market Committee chief Sahebrao Patil.
People, owing allegiance to Patil, allegedly attacked and seriously injured Amol, who was later admitted to a private hospital in the city.
No arrests have been made so far in this connection, they added.
Meanwhile, Sangli Journalist Sangathana, in a release, has condemned the attack on Amol by Sahebrao and his supporters.
