Raje scared of Jat support to Congress in Raj: Gehlot
Jaipur, Jul 10 (UNI) AICC General Secretary Ashok Gehlot today said Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje was scared of the Jat support to the Congress in the next Assembly elections in Rajasthan and made a Rajput leader a minister and a Jat her political advisor in a bid to neutralise its impact.
Talking to reporters here, Mr Gehlot said that despite opposition within the ruling BJP, Ms Raje had inducted Devi Singh Bhati in her Cabinet and appointed Bharatpur MP Vishwendra Singh as her political advisor.
Mr Bhati was treated as an ''untouchable'' by the BJP state leadership till a few days ago and even some of Ms Raje's cabinet colleagues were against his induction in the Ministry, the former Chief Minister said.
''Even Mr Vishwendra Singh's appointment is a political compulsion,'' Mr Gehlot added.
While, a section of the BJP state leadership was against Mr Bhati's induction, Mr Singh and his legislator wife Divya Singh had publicly criticised Chief Minister Raje during the recent Gujjar agitation.
