Rain lashes isolated areas in region
Chandigarh, July 10 (UNI) Monsoon rain lashed parts of North-West region since last night, providing respite to people from sweltering heat.
However, hot and humid weather conditions prevailed at some places even as rain occured at few places in Haryana and Himachal Pradesh and isolated areas in Punjab.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana during the next 24 hours, according to the Met Office here.
In Punjab, rain lashed Ludhiana, Patiala and their adjoining areas overnight but eluded the holcy city of Amritsar. Ludhiana recorded 4.1 mm and Patiala measured 3.8 mm rainfall till this morning.
Certain areas in Haryana also had rain with Hissar turning the wettest place in the state, recording 28.4 mm downpour. Karnal measured 9.2 mm rainfall.
Light to moderate rain lashed mid and lower hills in Himachal Pradesh, bringing a considerable fall in the temperatures.
Shimla and its adjoining areas and Bhuntar, Sundernagar, Mandi and Una received rain overnight.
Hot and humid weather conditions prevailed in Chandigarh and its adjoining areas. The city, which had trace rainfall, recorded the maximum humidity at 98 per cent.
